Non-medical Students Wanted - Perinatal Mental Health Medtech/Entrepreneurship project: PuffiN
About the Project
The project will bridge into the field of Medtech via the creation of an online psychoeducation resource (website/app). PuffiN is an online platform that aims to increase awareness of perinatal mental health (PMH) conditions and decrease obstacles to accessing low-intensity mental health treatment for birthing people and their partners. The app will provide new parents with a free, evidence-based questionnaire to self-identify symptoms of PMH conditions and provide them with information on each condition (what is it/symptoms/how common is it), how to access treatment, what each type of treatment entails, and self-help material.
Future aims are also to gamify the engagement process by offering rewards for participation, provide personalised mental and physical health tracking for the birthing parent, the partner, and the infant, and provide a local list of support services (creches, food banks).
About the Role
No experience necessary, but applicants should be aware that a significant time commitment of minimum 5hr/week is expected. Applicants must be passionate, or at least interested in perinatal mental health. Role is unpaid, but I am happy to write letters of recommendation.
